*Fallen Angel* a poem I penned, C/c?
For quite some time (years) I have been having dreams...or perhaps I should call them nightmares as they are never pleasant...going on some strange journey, usually on foot or sometimes an old car that keeps breaking down or bicycle. The dreams are always in entirely different settings and storylines, but the whole dream is chaotic and full of great angst because there are always so many obstacles in the way. I don't mean small bumps in the road...I'm talking about huge disasters, which have even included earthquakes and nuclear bombs...that stop me from getting to where I'm trying to go. Sometimes I am blinded or lamed and can't walk and just keep trying but my legs are like mush. What's strange to me is that quite often I have a small child (who I don't know) with me that I am trying to "take home" or take to whatever destination I'm trying to get to. I don't recall the child ever talking, but just looks at me sadly and holds on to my hand for dear life. I think it's usually a girl of about 5 or 6 years old. This dream just goes on and on for what seems like all night...I'm trying so desperately to reach my destination, but I get lost or disasters, etc. continue over and over to slow me down. I always feel so sorrowful in these dreams. The feelings of being lost are overwhelming. I wake up with my heart beating rapidly and feeling anxious. Can anyone interpret what these dreams might mean? Thanks...
Reoccurring dreams about long chaotic journeys...small child?
i have been wondering this all morning... as i had an "ah-ha" experience earlier... a flash of inspiration... and following the thoughts that came... i came to question whether or not the ego is blind but yet can see in others what it cannot see in itself. i recalled scripture... John 9:39 And Jesus said, "For judgment I have come into this world, that those who do not see may see, and that those who see may be made blind." i wonder if Jesus (peace be upon him) was referring to spiritual sight and not physical sight... or perhaps both... on different levels of understanding. i recall the teachings of Gurdjieff that we have buffers built into us so that we cannot see our own failings, but are quick to see the failings of others... and part of our duty as human beings is to become blind to the failings of others... but to gain sight into our own wretched condition. i recall Galatians 5 and 6... and particularly... 6:3... "For if anyone thinks himself to be something, when he is nothing, he deceives himself." so i am wondering about this ego business... and if you have any insights that you would like to share... i am most open to them. thank you for your thoughts... i know that i am having a difficult time putting my thoughts into words... but perhaps that is part of the process of 'learning' to see... it is blurry at first. may the LORD bless you richly. xx
Is the ego blind to itself?
So I read this quote today, and am killing myself wondering where I heard it from. 7 pages of google say it's from some batman video game? But I don't play batman video games... So yeah. I can recall hearing it from a movie. Anyone know? "Ladies and Gentlemen, Hobos and Tramps, Cross-eyed mosquitoes and bowlegged ants. I come before you, to stand before you, to tell you a story I know nothing about. One bright morning in the middle of the night two dead fellows stood up to fight. They stood back to back, facing each other, drew their swords and shot each other. If you don't believe my lie, it's true, ask the blind lady on the corner, she saw it too."
"Ladies and Gentlemen, Hobos and Tramps, Cross-eyed mosquitoes and bowlegged ants" quote?
I don't mean to sound racist in anyway but I'm wondering if there's a gene they carry that would allow for blindness or not. I know white people can be blind, and maybe an Asian person CAN go blind, but I don't recall ever seeing a blind Chinese person in my life.I learned that Asian people are more susceptible to lactose intolerance than other ethnic groups. I just figured that maybe this was a similar idea in that maybe they AREN'T susceptible to blindness. Not that I'm trying to link these two characteristics.
Can Asian people, Chinese, Japanese, be blind?
As the world turns and glaciers melt, some things come to mind . Like on that night the feelings I felt, black as the abyss I was blind . We are on the endangered species list, even if we don't no it yet . Hearts in famine shrouded by mist, our alarm clock is set . As trees falls so does morals . Water warms and hearts grow cold . Promises that are made oral, in these horrid times the world grows bold . Will you be our future teacher ? Merrits set high as the heavens themselves . On the stage of life we will be the main feature, as the air pollutes and you gain wealth . Land dissapears like memory, Facetious technology is produced day by day . I recall on time when things were better to see, as mankind loses it's way . I listen to the rhytm of the ocean, wishing it would take me away . Someplace dreaming, coasting on to a better economy .
My poem named economy?
No Tithing for Christians. At no time were first-century Christians commanded to pay tithes. The primary purpose of the tithing arrangement under the Law had been to support Israel’s temple and priesthood; consequently the obligation to pay tithes would cease when that Mosaic Law covenant came to an end as fulfilled, through Christ’s death on the torture stake. (Eph 2:15; Col 2:13, 14) It is true that Levitical priests continued serving at the temple in Jerusalem until it was destroyed in 70 C.E., but Christians from and after 33 C.E. became part of a new spiritual priesthood that was not supported by tithes.—Ro 6:14; Heb 7:12; 1Pe 2:9. As Christians, they were encouraged to give support to the Christian ministry both by their own ministerial activity and by material contributions. Instead of giving fixed, specified amounts to defray congregational expenses, they were to contribute “according to what a person has,” giving “as he has resolved in his heart, not grudgingly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.” (2Co 8:12; 9:7) They were encouraged to follow the principle: “Let the older men who preside in a fine way be reckoned worthy of double honor, especially those who work hard in speaking and teaching. For the scripture says: ‘You must not muzzle a bull when it threshes out the grain’; also: ‘The workman is worthy of his wages.’” (1Ti 5:17, 18) However, the apostle Paul set an example in seeking to avoid bringing an undue financial burden on the congregation.—Ac 18:3; 1Th 2:9. LAW WITH TITHING ORDINANCE REMOVED Search as you may you will not find Jesus recommending or commending tithing for his followers. When Jesus sent out his apostles and disciples to do missionary work from house to house and city to city, even unto the ends of the world, he made no provisions for their support through tithing. (Matt. 10:1-42; 28:19, 20; Luke 9:1-10; 10:1-17; Acts 1:8) Jesus came to fulfill and put an end to the Law covenant and all of its ordinances by having it nailed to his torture stake, and at the same time his poured-out blood set in operation a new covenant with superior arrangements. (Col. 2:14-16) Under such new system Christians are under new commandments that are summed up in total or complete love. They must therefore consecrate, not a tenth part, but everything they possess to God’s service and for the aid and comfort of good-will strangers among them.—Matt. 22:36-40. Recall how Jesus commended the poor widow who gave two small coins, together worth about one-fourth cent. Not a mere tenth, but “all of what she had, her whole living”. (Mark 12:41-44, NW) The same principle was emphasized in Jesus’ parables, how a man finding a “treasure hidden in a field” sold everything, not a tenth part, and purchased the field. And again, how the merchant seeking pearls found a very costly one, and sold everything to buy it. (Matt. 13:44-46, NW) Jesus was not advocating tithing for Christians when he told the rich young man who had kept all the laws of Moses (including that of tithing) to sell the other nine-tenths of his wealth to help the poor and then follow Jesus so that he might have real treasures in heaven. (Matt. 19:20-22) Truly, Christians are under a superior law! There are multitudes who, after giving one-tenth of their increase, might fare sumptuously every day, gratifying every whim, and living by the most lavish expenditure. How could they fulfill the law of Christ? or be self-sacrificing? Instead of being Christlike they would be pharisaical. The Pharisees were oh so exacting! in paying tithes of the very smallest seeds (mint, dill, cummin); but how selfish and far away from the Lord were their hearts! “Blind guides, who strain out the gnat but gulp down the camel!” (Matt. 15:6-9; 23:23, 24, NW) In fallen man under Satan’s influence there is always the tendency to substitute form and formalism for spirit and spirituality, rules for principles. It is so much easier to conform the conduct to a rule than to make a principle inform the whole life. Moses prescribed rules; Christ inculcated principles. Rules are for children; principles for men and women mature in Christian growth. TITHING UNKNOWN IN EARLY CHURCH After Jesus ascended on high do we find the apostles recommending tithing among Christians? Not at all! Paul, who was given the care of all the congregations (2 Cor. 11:28), declared that the provisions and ordinances of the Mosaic law were only a “shadow of the heavenly things”, of “good things to come”, and hence were not the very substance of spiritual things. “Let no man judge you” in connection with the invalidated Law. Christians are concerned about the substance, not the shadow.—Heb. 8:5; 10:1; Col. 2:12-17, NW. Christians maintain no Levitical priesthood. No “clergy class” exists among them, for whom tithes are collected. “All you are brothers.” (Matt. 23:8-11, NW) Those given oversight of Christian congregations, therefore, are unpaid slaves, not hireling
No Tithing for Christians?
I remember watching this movie a few years back, but I can't remember the name of it, I remember this: 1.) There were these people who found themselves in big empty plain white rooms. 2.) they don't remember how they got there, but apparently it was a game or something. 3.) there were like doors to other blank rooms but each had something inside it. One room had some unseen creature that only a blind character in the movie could detect. 4.) I remember an elderly man getting killed by some sort of sphere or spinning diamond thing. He let himself stay in the room and didn't accept help or something. 5.) Only one character in the movie (a woman) made it out in the end by reaching a room that seemed to have a bottomless pit. When she jumped into it, she found herself in the real world where people who seemed to be like agents or something shot and killed her. That's all I can recall. Based on what I can remember of this movie, does anyone have any idea of what the movie title was?
Does anyone know this movie?
It was a book I read in the late 90's, probably close to 2000. I seem to recall it being a trilogy, possibly meant for 13 - 17 year olds or something. I really really seem to think it had something to do with marshlands or something, the first book of the trilogy at least. I remember random parts of it, like at one part I guess a guy is paralyzed and he cuts off his legs so he's easier to take around. And in another book of this same series (I think they're connected books and not just two random ones) they run into some like, weird gang in a post apocalyptic world, and their leader is blind. I also seem to think that there was a part about some weird swamp-woman things, that creeped me out at the time. Any help with this would be much appreciated!
I'm trying to remember a book.?
Yesterday, I came home to find my blanket missing. I called my 16-year-old daughter, asking if she had it and she yelled back that she did. I told her to bring it to me right this instant and she said that she was watching a movie and that she'd bring it in a second. I yelled that she was supposed to do it RIGHT AWAY, to which she replied "HOLD ON." I said, "NO!" She yelled that she was bringing it right over and was extremely angry. She said she had been getting dressed. She walked over to me and practically threw it at me! "ARE YOU TRYING TO BREAK SOMETHING?!?!?!" I yelled at her. She'd thrown it at me like she was planning on killing me with it! She said that it was just a blanket and that there wasn't much harm you can do with one,. What sass. She told me that she had hung my dark blue blanket over her window. Her excuse? The sunlight was waking her up in the morning and she couldn't sleep. I have told her multiple times that she is not allowed to take this blanket and put it over her window. It looks absolutely hideous, what must the neighbors think?! She responded that if her dad had set up the blinds, she wouldn't have had to take it but she wasn't supposed to be sleeping around that time anyway! The sun sets around 7AM, that's when I get up for work. She said that I get up at noon during my days off, but I am a working mother! Of course I need my sleep! I sleep during the night and am awake during the day. I started yelling at her that she was not supposed to be sleeping at 7 and that that blanket belonged to me. She said that she hated m so I ran towards her. She looked scared and apologized, saying she didn't mean it. I told her that I was kicking her out and to leave the house right now. Immediately. To just go. She got up and walked out quickly in front of me yet I still managed to push her a bit on her way out. She didn't fall when I pushed her. She had no socks on, she was just in her pajamas and she was saying she was going to get some socks but I said that that wouldn't be necessary. I slammed the door on her feet and locked it. About twenty minutes later, I opened the door. My daughter was sitting on the porch next to a bloodied dead bird. It was rather convenient that it was there right then for this lesson as the only place she could sit due to the rocks surrounding our house was the small mat, the same one the bird was on. I told her that she was not coming back into the house and to get into the car because she was going to live with her sister. She again began trying to bargain with me, trying to get some clothes to put on or shoes considering there is no pavement by our house, only rocks, some of which are rather sharp (a little blood never hurt anyone) but then she wouldn't have learned her lesson. I told her to get into the car right then. I told her that those clothes belonged to me, considering I bought them. She started going on about how she'd bought over half of her clothes, yet I seemed to recall having lent her around $40 for clothes in the summer so any piece of clothing, I could have claimed to own. She said that she'd told me to take it from her bank account but we hadn't yet so it still counted. She told me to open the car so I just slammed the door in her face. I think she was getting quite humiliated considering all of the neighbors could see her there, she hadn't even showered that day and those pajamas were a bit worn out. The phone rang and it was my sister so I decided I didn't feel like doing this anymore. My husband opened the door for my daughter and she just walked into her room, my husband cleaned up the dead bird and blood. She seemed a bit distant later in the day. Then today, she seemed distant still and said that even her sister thought that was "incredibly dumb" of me. She also complained of "incredibly itchy feet" yet every week she's complaining of some random physical pain. What would you have done? The nerve of her, calling me stupid and saying she hates me? What's wrong with this generation! Please post your punishments so I can show my daughter, show her how good she really has it.
Do you think that this was an appropriate punishment for my daughter?
Living Life Dead I recall it vividly… dying, I mean. I remember the blaring horn of the Metra as it came barreling towards my car, the blinding light shining through my windshield. I remember the screech of metal wheels against steel tracks as the engineer tried desperately to stop the train before it tore through my tiny 1991 Nissan Sentra. I remember sirens, I remember screams, and I remember darkness. But what I don’t remember is why. Why did I park my car on that train track at the intersection of Irving Park and Wood Dale road? Why did I get into the back seat, put my headphones on, and wait for certain death? And why am I still here? Its for a ghost story i have to write for English. i cannot get past that first paragraph, no matter how hard I try! Please, just give me an idea, a sentence. Anything!
